Characteristics[] Appearance []. Ganon is a blue pig with glowing, pupil-less yellow eyes. He wears a small, spiked red cap on his head. Out of Ganon's appearances in The Legend of Zelda series, in Animal Crossing he most strongly resembles his designs in the original The Legend of Zelda, the Oracle series, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and The Legend of

He’s one of gaming’s most recognizable characters and a fan-favorite foil, but how much do you really know about The Legend of Zelda’s iconic villain, Ganondorf? From a demonic pig monster to a powerful warlock, Ganon has undergone a surprising metamorphosis throughout his 26-year existence. This isn't a complete list of every Zelda game featuring Ganon, but a look at how Ganon's backstory has evolved over time. Legend of Zelda 1986In the original Zelda title, Ganon is a mysterious figure. He appears as a giant topaz pig monster who wields a trident. Ganon holds Princess Zelda hostage in his lair at Death Mountain, and the only weapon that will destroy him is a silver arrow. In the instruction booklet for The Legend of Zelda, Ganon’s name was spelled with a single n. However, during the in-game intro his name is spelled “Gannon,” leading to decades of confusion. The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past 1991Nintendo started to flesh out Ganon’s backstory in A Link to the Past. It turns out that Ganon wasn’t always a boar-like demon, but had once been a man by the name of Ganondorf. Ganondorf was the leader of a group of thieves who found a way to enter the Sacred Realm and steal the Triforce. After Ganondorf rips the Triforce from its home, he plunges the Sacred Realm into darkness and begins his transformation into the vastly powerful being seen at the end of the game. The Knights of Hyrule and its Sages attempt to trap Ganon within the Sacred Realm, but Link eventually has to come and save the day. Link’s battle with Ganon is reminiscent of the one at the end of the original Legend of Zelda, foreshadowing the reincarnation concept that would eventually be incorporated into the mythology in The Wind Waker. Fun fact A Link to the Past’s English instruction manual gave Ganon the surname Dragmire as well as an alias "Mandrag Ganon," which means "Ganon of the Enchanted Thieves.” The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 1998Nintendo dug into Ganondorf’s backstory further in the N64 title Ocarina of Time. It’s explained that Ganondorf’s group of thieves are actually a race of people called the Gerudo. Within Gerudo society, men are only born once every century, making the Gerudo a predominately female warrior race. According to Gerudo custom, Ganondorf is King of the Gerudo by birthright. Ganondorf uses this power and influence to obtain entrance into the Sacred Realm to steal the Triforce. During the Ocarina of Time “retelling” of the Legend of Zelda, however, Ganondorf is only able to steal a third of the Triforce – the Triforce of Power – which Ganon uses to conquer Hyrule and cast the realm into darkness. Of course, Ganon reveals his Boar form late in the game. The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker 2003In The Wind Waker, players are given their first opportunity to sympathize with Ganondorf. It is revealed that Ganondorf's race hails from a land called the Gerudo Desert. This arid countryside is a wasteland of unstable climate that is plagued by sandstorms. The Gerudo have come to resent the inhabitants of the utopian Hyrule Field, which is why Ganondorf attempts to steal the Triforce. The Wind Waker also introduces the concept that Ganon, Link, and Zelda are all reincarnated entities forced to relive their epic battle every few centuries. No direct timeline is given, but it is implied that this cycle has been repeating for millennia. The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword 2011Nintendo’s most recent Zelda title, Skyward Sword, added a few new twists to the Zelda mythos. Skyward Sword is a prequel of sorts for the franchise, and even though Ganon isn’t directly featured in the game, his origins are revealed. In the game, Ganon appears to be a manifestation of a demonic god called Demise. Link’s companion during Skyward Sword, Fi, describes Demise as "the source of all monsters." After Demise’s plan to obtain the Triforce is squelched, his hatred for Link and Zelda manifests as a curse that forces the trio and their descendants to eternally relive their conflict. The Legend of Zelda mythos has evolved a great deal, and we wonder what new direction’s Nintendo will take the property in the future. One this is for sure We’re happy to keep reliving these adventures.

PossiblyGanon and the dark world is a "Link to the past", as in that Ganon's return is bringing back the bloody past that hyrule was saved from for all the time between his sealing and tyhe game, but even that's a pretty meh explanation. 3. Ganon's Tower is the final dungeon in The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past. It is located on Death Mountain in the Dark World and serves as the Dark World's equivalent of the Tower of Hera. It cannot be accessed until Link has freed all the Seven Maidens. When all seven crystals have been gathered, the force field placed around the tower is broken, and a staircase reveals itself. Although the artwork implies that it lacks any walls besides the pillars holding up the tower, the game itself shows that it does have walls. Story After rescuing Princess Zelda from Turtle Rock, Link must travel west, to Ganon's Tower. The tower has been sealed by Agahnim to prevent the hero from interfering with his plans. This seal is represented by a glowing magical force that illuminates the tower. The Seven Maidens, from inside their crystal prisons, use their power to break the seal placed on Ganon's Tower, allowing Link to enter. Inside, Link braves the many obstacles in the tower and is forced to battle the bosses that held the Pendants of Virtue in the Light World one more time. Link ascends to the very top of the tower, where Agahnim is waiting for him. After the second and ultimate defeat of Agahnim, the true antagonist, Ganon, abandons the body of Agahnim and retreats to the Pyramid. Link chases after him by calling the duck with the Flute, beginning a final battle between good and evil. Dungeon The Dungeon has eight floors total, consisting of multiple rooms and enemies on each. Link must once again do battle with the bosses of the Light World dungeons before facing Agahnim. While exploring the Dungeon, the Red Mail can be found on the first floor near the center of the map, however, it is not necessary to continue progressing through the game.
Defeating Ganon without possessing the Silver Arrows. Normally, in the fourth and final phase of the Ganon fight, the player is intended to stun Ganon with the sword and then shoot him with silver arrows to damage him. However, there is a small window right when he is beginning to teleport where Ganon is vulnerable to being damaged with a sword spin. Hitting Ganon too early will stun him, which does no damage, and waiting too long will miss. It takes 12 successful spins with the Tempered or Butter Sword to kill Ganon this way, and 24 spins with the Master Sword. In comparison, it takes only 4 shots with Silver Arrows to kill him. Another popular glitch to use during a Silverless Ganon fight is the Torch Glitch. This allows the player to only have to light one torch instead of two to make Ganon vulnerable. Thanks to Avonyel for suggesting this entry and providing content, and karl for suggesting a link to Torch Glitch. Ganonis probably the best way to end off A Link to the Past. A very challenging boss to end a Zelda game that has definitely won its way into my top five favorites. It took me quite a few tries to defeat Ganon, but I eventually pulled it off. OverviewSprite of Ganon from The Legend of Zelda, next to is a primary recurring antagonist in The Legend of Zelda series. He has appeared primarily in two forms. The first is Ganon, a monstrous, pig-like beast-man that was first introduced in the original The Legend of Zelda. Later games, starting with The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, depict him in human form with the name Ganondorf. In Ocarina of Time and some other games in which he appears as human, he assumes his monstrous Ganon form near the end of the is the personification of an evil that continuously threatens Hyrule over the generations. As part of this ambition, he is most often depicted as coveting possession of the Triforce. As with the series protagonists Link and Zelda, he traditionally represents one of the three pieces of the Triforce; specifically, the Triforce of Power, for his raw strength and lust for control. The other pieces of the Triforce, the Triforces of Wisdom and Courage, are traditionally represented by Zelda and Link, Ganon is characterized as the main antagonist of The Legend of Zelda, he does not appear in every game, and the roles he plays in some games in which he does appear are minor. As an example of the former, he does not appear in The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask, a direct sequel to Ocarina of Time. As an example of the latter, though Ganon's potential resurrection is a threat faced in Zelda II The Adventure of Link, his only appearance comes in the Game Over screen, in which it is implied that Link fails in his quest and Ganon is following section is a history of some of Ganon's appearances in The Legend of Zelda Legend of ZeldaIn the original The Legend of Zelda, Ganon appears as the game's final boss. This last-ditch effort is thwarted, and Ganon is Link returns to the past, the Gandondorf of that era is summarily arrested and executed. The events surrounding Ganon's battle with Link cause the timeline to split from this point, with one branch extending from the future era in which Ganon is defeated, and a second branch extending from the past era in which Ganondorf is executed before he can succeed. A third branch also exists, in a version of history where Ganondorf is Legend of Zelda Twilight PrincessIn Twilight Princess, the sages attempted to execute Ganondorf, but failed because of his divine power. He killed one of the sages, which forced them to send him into the Twilight Realm as a last resort. There, Ganondorf appeared before Zant, posing as a god and granting him part of his power. However, Demise, one of the game's primary antagonists and the final boss, bears a very strong resemblance to Ganondorf. Like Ganondorf, he once sought the Triforce, but the goddess Hylia sacrificed her own divinity in order to seal him away. Generations later, Hylia was reborn as a mortal, Zelda of Skyloft, and Ghirahim uses her soul to resurrect Demise, who shortly thereafter challenges Link to a Demise's defeat, he invokes a curse, stating that an incarnation of his very hatred will be eternally reborn. Link battles this hideous monster within the Pyramid. Story Artwork of Link's battle with Ganon Ganon was once an ordinary thief named Ganondorf who stumbled across the Triforce in the Golden Land. Upon touching the Triforce, the Golden Land was altered to his image, becoming the Dark World. Ganon himself was altered into a powerful being capable of incredible feats of might and magic. Not satisfied with his own world, Ganon sought to conquer Hyrule, as well. However, he was stopped by the actions of the Seven Wise Men and was sealed away. From inside the Dark World, however, Ganon was able to construct an avatar named Agahnim. Upon reaching Hyrule, Agahnim began to use magic in order to seal away the descendents of the Seven Sages in order to free Ganon. Once Princess Zelda, the final descendent, was sealed away, the Dark World was unleashed and Ganon was freed. After freeing the Seven Maidens, Link ascends Ganon's Tower and defeats Agahnim, who Ganon describes as his alter ego. Ganon then rises from Agahnim's body before transforming into a bat and flying to the Pyramid in the center of the Dark World, where he breaks a hole through the Pyramid's top. Link uses the flute to call his bird and follows Ganon to the Pyramid. Inside, Link and Ganon battle for the future of Hyrule. Link defeats Ganon with the help of the Silver Arrows and a doorway opens. Link enters it and finds himself in a hall where the omniscient Triforce lies. Wishing with all of his heart for Ganon's evil deeds to be undone, Link touches the Triforce, and his wishes are granted. The Dark World disappears and the land of Hyrule is restored to peace. Battle Ganon warps across the room, throwing his trident like a boomerang. After Link deals a certain amount of damage with his sword, Ganon will generate rings of fireballs around himself, which will turn into bat shapes similar to Fire Keese and fly at Link. After Ganon has taken more damage, he will cause the bordering floor to collapse and send Fire Keese in a spiral pattern, which leave a trail of flame. Ganon then makes the room go dark, rendering himself invisible, and warps around the arena shooting more Fire Keese straight at Link. Link must relight the torches with the Lantern or the Fire Rod, making Ganon visible again so that he can stun him with a sword slash. Link must then shoot Ganon with a silver arrow. After Link repeats this four times, Ganon is defeated. If Link falls off the edge of the battlefield after Ganon makes the floor collapse, the battle ends, and Link finds himself in a corridor with a Telepathic Tile through which Sahasrahla will advise him. The battle against Ganon must then be fought again from the beginning. This happens even after Ganon is defeated.
Refers to a glitch in the Japanese version of Link To the Past. In Ganon’s final stage, if the player is able to light the left torch before the right torch goes, out the right torch will remain lit for the rest of the fight. This makes relighting the torches much easier and the fight quicker. All but required for an attempt at Silverless Ganon. Thank you to axeil for providing content for this entry. vK17z8F.
